"Business manager role" is a setting under the agency permissions. Let's say you are hiring a leadgen manager or sales manager who is going to send bids and talk to your clients.

💡
You need to create an Upwork profile for them, add to your agency and enable them as BMs in settings.

It may be confusing but right now in settings they are called Agency Managers

The main cool thing is that they will have the ability to bid from the name of anyone in an agency. They don't need someone else's credentials for that. Legal. Safe. Comfortable!

💡
They can choose any team member to bid from him/her and of course general or specialized profile to be used for this purpose.

Also, they can have an ability to be in the company's chats and if the client answers, they see this answer as it would be a group chat between BM, developer and client.

FAQ answers

  • yes, the client will see only a member your BM chooses to show, the client won't see your BM
  • yes, it means you can leave BM's profile empty without any project on it
  • you can have an unlimited amount of BMs
  • any member can have a BM role
