Profile parts that look nice but don’t affect algorithms
1. Profile video
- ❌ Not indexed for search
- ❌ Doesn’t increase impressions
- ✅ Just makes your profile look better
- ✅Increases chances for replies&invites
2. Portfolio images & visuals
- ❌ Images themselves are not indexed
- ✅ First thing clients visually scan
- ✅Shown near designers in a talent search
- ✅ Helps non-technical clients understand value
⚠️ Only text inside portfolio descriptions can affect matching — visuals don’t.
3. Testimonials (manual / external)
- ❌ Not part of the ranking system
- ❌ Don’t influence search
- ✅ Just look nice.
⚠️ I wouldn't do. I can't prove it, but I think Upwork is using them to create client's database.
4. Education section
- ❌ No impact on search
- ✅ Matters only for 100% filled profiles
⚠️ Do not mix with professional licences which are sometimes important
5. Languages (unless client filters by language or American - verified)
- ❌ No ranking
- ❌ Not a keyword factor
- ✅ Helps with filters
6. Design, formatting, emojis
- ❌ Algorithms don’t care
- ❌ No keyword boost
- ✅ People like it. Nice 😅
It's important to make your profile on the 1st Global page, but beauty also matters. Btw, I am going to organise Upwork profile boost Marathon in TRC already next week how it was before How did I make an experiment with 10 companies on Upwork and boost their profile visibility?
