1. Are you even in a niche that gets invites?

Let's start with an uncomfortable question.What if the problem is not your profile? What if there are simply not many clients looking for people like you?

Every niche on Upwork is different. Some generate hundreds of jobs every day. Some look cool and have almost no traffic.

"Why does that React developer get 10 invites per month and I get 1?" Well... because you're not a React developer.

You can't optimize your way out of a dead market.

2. Did you choose just one niche?

Who are you exactly?

An AI Creator?
A Full Stack Developer?
A Logo Designer?
A Marketing Consultant?

All at the same time?

So how do you add weight into your profile? Don't be surprised when invites become rare.

  1. Basics. Categories.

Did you choose the right categories in your profile settings?

  1. Did you find your title requests in Upwork suggestions OR did you write it yourself?

it may sound cool, but nobody is searching for that.

Upwork already suggests common titles based on real searches. If you decided to invent your own title, ask yourself why.

Or are you the only person using it?

  1. Did you work on Upwork SEO?

Suggestions, related queries and main requests? In every single section?

  1. Skills.

Are they green? Re-checked from the client's profile?

  1. Did you fill all the features, including consultations and project catalog?

Still empty? Then don't be surprised if Upwork has trouble showing you everywhere. The more data you give the platform, the easier it is to match you with the right searches and invitations.

  1. Competitors research

Many freelancers compare themselves to random profiles. Check people in the same niche/rate. Check their work history.

  1. Are your expectations realistic?

How many invites do people in your niche actually get?Do you know? Or are you comparing yourself to freelancers from a completely different market?

  1. Work history

You say you're an AI Engineer. Your last 20 contracts say "My contract for Peter"or "very important development". Guess why your invitations are random?

  1. Did you reject your previous invitations with the wrong reason?
